SABIC
Innovating and Performing Together: communication on the shop floor
The strategic plan of the management team at SABIC Innovative Plastics B.V., Innovating and Performing Together (SIP), sets a clear course for making the company future-proof in a complex industrial environment.
The challenge doesn’t lie in the strategy itself, but in its translation: how do you ensure that more than a thousand employees start working from the same mindset? Innovating and performing together must not remain an abstract plan — it needs to become a mentality on the shop floor.
What needs to change?
Employees and managers need to act from the same guiding principles every day. Collaboration, improvement, and innovation should become second nature — embedded in teams, processes, and decision-making.
Our approach
We start on the shop floor. Together with SABIC, we organise working sessions with different groups of employees and managers. Not to explain the strategy, but to explore how it actually lands in daily practice.
In these sessions, we mapped:
-
how the plan is perceived on the shop floor
-
where resistance, doubt, or misunderstandings occur
-
which behaviours already support the ambition — and what people need to act differently
These insights form the foundation for a campaign-based translation of Innovating and Performing Together.
This is how we translate strategy into behaviour — step by step.
- resonates with different roles and teams
- connects to everyday work situations
- makes the desired behaviour concrete and open for discussion
What this set in motion
The leadership’s ambition becomes tangible on the shop floor. Employees recognise what Innovating and Performing Together means for them — and how they themselves contribute to it.
The conversation shifts from plan to practice, from intention to action. Communication serves as the bridge between strategy and daily work.
